Privacy Policy

Who this policy is for

This policy covers FinanceBridges ("FinanceBridges", "we", "us"). It applies to this website, our advertising, and the forms you fill out through us.

FinanceBridges is not an insurance company and is not a licensed insurance advisor. We connect Canadians with licensed, independent insurance advisors in their province. This policy explains what we do with your information. Once you're matched with an advisor, that advisor is responsible for their own handling of your information under their own privacy obligations.

We operate in Canada and follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the applicable privacy laws of your province.

What we collect

Only what we need to connect you with the right advisor:

• Contact details. Your name, phone number, and email address.
• Situation details. What you tell us about your work or business, your province, your general income situation, your age range, and any coverage you already have.
• Conversation records. The SMS, email, and call notes between you and us, so we don't ask you the same thing twice.
• Technical information. Your IP address, browser, device type, and how you found us. Collected automatically through cookies and analytics tools.

We do not ask for and do not want your SIN, banking details, credit card numbers, or medical records. Never send those to us. If an advisor needs anything like that at the application stage, that's handled directly between you, the advisor, and the insurer.

How we collect it

• Forms you fill out on Facebook or Instagram through our advertising.
• Forms and booking pages on our website or the sites we operate.
• Your replies to our text messages, emails, and phone calls.
• Automatically, through cookies and tracking pixels, when you visit our pages.

Why we use it

• To match you with a licensed independent advisor in your province.
• To contact you about the request you made, including booking, confirming, and reminding you about your call.
• To answer your questions and follow up if we don't reach you.
• To measure and improve our advertising and our pages.
• To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it. We do not hand it to data brokers.

Who we share it with

Three groups, and that's it:

• The advisor you're matched with. This is the point of the service. To do their job, the licensed independent advisor we match you with receives your contact details and what you told us about your situation.
• Our service providers. The companies that run our CRM, our messaging, our scheduling, our hosting, and our analytics. They only get what they need to provide that service to us and they're not allowed to use it for anything else.
• When the law requires it. If we're legally compelled, or if it's needed to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.

Text messages and emails

When you give us your phone number and email, you're agreeing that we and the advisor we match you with may contact you about your request by phone, text, and email.

You can stop it any time. Reply STOP to any text message, click unsubscribe in any email, or email us and ask. We'll action it. Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and tracking pixels, including the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics, to understand how people find our pages and whether our advertising is working. These tools may set cookies on your device and share information with Meta and Google under their own privacy policies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of our pages may not work properly if you do.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it for the purpose you gave it to us for, and after that for as long as we're legally required to. When we no longer need it, we delete it or anonymize it.

How we protect it

We use reputable service providers, restrict access to the people who need it, and take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure and we can't promise otherwise, but we take it seriously.

Some of our service providers store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. When information is stored in another country it may be accessible to the courts and authorities of that country.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law you can:

• Ask us what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
• Ask us to delete it.
• Withdraw your consent at any time. If you do, we may no longer be able to connect you with an advisor, which is fair enough.
• Complain to us, and if we don't resolve it, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

If you want the advisor you were matched with to delete your information, contact them directly. They hold their own copy and their own obligations.

Children

Our service is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think we have, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we'll do more than that.
